Too many Oakland students are struggling with math!
We know that early success in math leads to later success in life. But in Oakland, only 1 out of 10 Black and Brown students are prepared to do math at grade level. We know our kids can excel in math and they don’t have time to wait. The good news? YOU can be part of the solution!

Join our Math Liberator Fellowship to become a PAID math tutor in Oakland schools!
The Oakland REACH and OUSD are launching an innovative pilot program called “MathBOOST” to train and hire math tutors to help solve our citywide math needs. We’re looking for people who know our students the best – parents, family members, and community members from Oakland, to help set students up for success with elementary math skills by ensuring they have access to high-dosage math tutoring. We are running the Math Liberator Fellowship to prepare tutors to be powerful leaders and educators in OUSD elementary schools. No previous tutoring experience is required!

In the Math Liberator Fellowship, participants will learn math and leadership skills and receive support onboarding as tutors — Math Liberators — in OUSD. Math Liberator Fellows that successfully complete the Fellowship will earn a total stipend amount of $1,650.
