Too many Oakland students cannot read and do math!

We know that math and literacy skills unlock children’s futures, but not enough Black and Brown students in Oakland are reading AND doing math on grade level. They need to be reading and doing math RIGHT NOW. Our kids can excel, and they don’t have time to wait.

The good news? YOU can be part of the solution!

Become a PAID Math or Literacy Liberator!

Math Liberators & Literacy Liberators are paid tutors in OUSD.

We’re looking for people who know our students the best – parents, family members, and community members from Oakland – to help set students up for success through high-dosage tutoring.

Join our Fellowship training to learn subject-specific skills, leadership skills, and receive support onboarding into paid positions as tutors in OUSD. No previous tutoring experience is required! This summer we will host 2 Fellowships:

  1. Math Liberator Fellowship for those wanting to become math tutors
  2. Literacy Liberator Fellowship for those wanting to become literacy tutors
