Passionate and fearless parents

The Oakland school system has failed Black and Brown families for generations. We refuse to let it fail our children. The Oakland REACH is a parent-run, parent-led powerful force for radical change. We educate and empower parents to demand high-quality schools for their children.

Real change happens at the intersection of organizing, advocacy and programming

The work we do locally makes national news. The Opportunity Ticket, our REACH Relief Fund, Citywide Virtual Hub, and lawsuit against the state of California for failing to provide educational equity during COVID prove what can happen when decisions are made by parents instead of for parents.

Our HUB improves educational outcomes

Lakisha Young

Co-Founder & CEO, The Oakland REACH

"Whether school is virtual or in-person — pandemic or no pandemic — that doesn’t change our parents’ aspirations for their children to go to college. That’s why we’ve got to keep going and growing our Hub! Thank you for your support to keep this work going."
