Chief of Staff and Director of Organizing Bring Tremendous Experience Advocating for Quality Education for California Families
It has been a huge year for The Oakland REACH. In March, the Opportunity Ticket – created by and for our parents – passed the School Board unanimously. Just this week, The Oakland REACH turned out in force to successfully urge the School Board to make tough decisions that more quality seats for more kids now.
“We have worked nonstop to put ourselves in a powerful position to demand access to higher-quality schools for our families – and now we are firmly at the table,” said Lakisha Young, Executive Director of The Oakland REACH. “But we need to fight to stay there, and this is where the real work begins – policy implementation. To ensure everything we are fighting for is implemented in a way that actually supports our families, we know we need to boost our organizing skills and keep growing our team.”
To do that, the team is thrilled to announce two new leadership members with tremendous experience advocating for quality education for Northern California families.
